Families and dog owners are being invited to Dorothy Clive Garden, near Market Drayton, on Saturday, in support of the Canine Capers event.

The day, which will run from 10am to 5pm, will support both the garden and the Pug Dog Welfare Association, and will include a variety of entertainment, activities and stalls.

It will include a treasure hunt called Toto's Treasure Trail, a dog show including best sausage catcher, fancy dress and best young handler.

There will also be police dog demonstrations, pet MoTs with the PDSA, dog related talks, and lots of canine related stalls.

Police dog Emma will star at the event.

Three-year-old Emma is part of the Passive and Pro Active Drugs and Firearms Recovery Dog Unit, in Stoke-on-Trent, and will take part in a drugs recovery display on the day. Constable Julie Hargreaves, from Longton police station in Stoke-on-Trent, said:

"It will give event visitors a close up and interesting insight into the world of police search and rescue dogs, and the amazing work they do."

Admission to the event is £3.50 for adults and £2 for children.

Dogs, children under five and garden members can attend for free.
