Outline planning permission for the homes on land at off Greenfields Recreation Ground, Falstaff Street, was granted this week by members of Shropshire Planning department.

Local residents had complained that the development proposed by Shrewsbury Town Council, would lead to extra traffic, increased dog fouling and a loss of a green space which was a haven for wildlife.

Despite the objections, planners working under reserved matters passed the officer's recommendation that the development be given outline planning consent.

The eight eco homes will be zero carbon and will range from four three-storey homes to four two-storey homes. Renewable and ecological energy sources will also be used.

Under the plans there will also be an allocation for allotment space.
