The two vehicle crash happened around 7am this morning which closed the road between the Mile End Roundabout and the Queen's Head.

The fire service sent four crews to the scene and had to use cutters to free one person from the wreckage.

He said: "The call came in at exactly 7am and three ambulances attended, the first being on the scene within six minutes.

"Paramedics found a two car crash, with one of the cars having overturned.

"There was a female driver with pelvic pain. She was found to have multiple fractures to her right leg, left leg pain and pelvic pain.

"She was mobilised on a spinal board and placed in a pelvic binder, which guards against any possible damage to her pelvis.

"She was then taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. A man from the other car as also taken to the hospital for checks."

Elsewhere this morning drivers escaped injury following a three car smash on the M54.

The accident happened eastbound between junctions three for Albrighton and four for Shifnal.

A black Volkswagen Passat, a black Volkswagen Polo and a silver Suzuki Alto were all damaged during the accident, which happened just before 8.30am.

One lane of the road was closed for up to an hour, causing some delays for traffic.

Officers from West Mercia Police were on the scene and a spokeswoman said the cars were being moved by 9.15am.
