Jobs under threat as chain closing branch in Market Drayton
Up to eight jobs are under threat after Poundstretcher announced it was closing one of its shops in Shropshire.
Bosses today confirmed the branch, off Frogmore Road in Market Drayton, would close in the next two to three weeks.
They said they had outgrown their existing premises but planned to move to a larger out-of-town location in the future.
Another retailer has agreed to take on the lease, but Poundstretcher would not reveal any more details.
Staff have been informed of the decision but it is not yet known if they will be made redundant or relocated.
Company secretary Martin Collinson said: "We are closing because someone has already taken on the lease from us. Also because this type of store has become too small for us to operate."
The announcement comes after it was revealed Sainsbury's will not be building a new store in Market Drayton.
