Announcement on possible new MoD Donnington base delayed
An announcement on the preferred bidder to run the base of the Ministry of Defence's logistics operation has been delayed.
It was understood the announcement the preferred defence company to create and run the MoD's new national logistics hub would going to be made today but nothing was released by the Government.
It means bosses at MoD Donington in Telford will continue to have to wait to find out whether its bid has beaten a rival proposal from MoD Bicester in Oxfordshire.
That decision wasn't expected to be made today anyway but an announcement of the preferred bidder could have given each side an indication of who would likely win the contract.
Leaders on both sides were initially promised a decision before Christmas last year.
If successful, 750 job in Telford would be safeguarded, 450 new posts could be created and it would be worth £60 million a year to the Shropshire economy.
