Trick or treat 'should be banned' at elderly people's homes
A care company has repeated its claim that trick or treating at elderly people's homes should be banned.
Abacare, which has an office in Newtown and carried out domiciliary care in Powys, said many older people live in fear at this time of the year.
Peter Angelides, managing director of Abacare, said: "We have received lots of support on social media with regards our call for a ban on trick or treating the elderly. It would be great if we could raise some more awareness of our campaign and really get people behind us.
"When it is dark many older people will often sit alone in their rooms feeling anxious and frightened and do not want to open their front doors to strangers. It would be great if people could refrain on knocking on elderly people's doors in their area and help spread the word too.
"We're hoping people can find other ways of celebrating All Hallows' Eve such as holding parties or gatherings but in case any of our service users do receive a knock at the door, we will be sending out stickers for them to put up in their windows and doors to say no to trick or treaters."
