Remains could be buried under Ludlow homes
Archaeological remains could be buried on the site of a 215-home development planned on the outskirts of Ludlow.
Evidence of a Bronze Age settlement is known to exist near to the proposed site for the homes on the northern edge of the town. And it is believed there could be evidence of activity dating back centuries on the proposed development site close to Bromfield Road, according to papers lodged with Shropshire Council.
Planning officers have recommended that archaeological work is carried out at the site before any homes are built, should consent be granted. But they have recommended that councillors approve the plans.
Outline plans for the development were being discussed today by a meeting of Shropshire Council's south planning committee.
