Mid Wales museum will open on Saturdays in holidays
Newtown's Robert Owen Memorial Museum will be open on Saturdays throughout the school summer holidays.
Visitors will be able to look around the free museum between 11am and 3pm on Saturdays and bank holidays until the end of August, with volunteers on hand to answer any questions.
The entrance to the museum in The Cross building at the bottom of Broad Street recently had a major facelift.
The museum has been given two paintings by local artist Heulwen M Davies which form part of the new look of the entrance. The two pictures depict the Robert Owen statue on Shortbridge Street and Robert Owen's tomb in St Mary's churchyard, Newtown, both of which can be visited on a short Robert Owen walking tour of the town, with copies available from the museum.
Curator Pat Brandwood said: "Keeping alive Robert Owen's legacy of co-operation and making the world a better place is a great experience. We would love more people to get involved in any capacity, whether it is as volunteer guides, helping to digitise the collection or as a member of our management committee."
The museum is also open Monday to Friday between 11am and 3pm and by appointment at other times.
