2,000 Ludlow homes hit in power cut
More than 2,000 homes in Shropshire were left without power last night as the result of a fault in an underground cable.

The power cut hit 2,100 homes in Ludlow at about 6.10pm yesterday, although 1,250 of those had supplies restored within four minutes.
A spokesman for Western Power Distribution said: "We have equipment in the control room which means we can switch supplies remotely. "Most of the rest were back on by 7.07pm and the remaining 230 were restored by 19.12pm."
He said the power cut had been caused by a fault in an underground cable, which had been isolated. Engineers were continuing work to find the exact location of the fault and to repair the cable.
