Work to replace more than five kilometres of piping started at Bomere Heath, at the start of the New Year.

The work, which took place in and around Baschurch Road, is aimed at preventing leaks and bursts in the area and improving the reliability of customers' water supply.

Contractors working for Severn Trent Water were called in after it was found the old pipes had corroded and broken.

Severn Trent Water's Dave Kiernan said: "We've replaced five kilometres of water pipes on Baschurch Road and the B5067.

"We've done this because the pipes had become old and had burst several times, interrupting our customers' water supply. We're happy to say that the job went well and we've actually completed a couple of weeks earlier than we planned.

"We'd like to apologise to anyone who was affected by the work and the road closures. However the long-term benefits of the work will be felt for years to come.

"We've now identified that a further section of pipe which feeds Leaton Industrial Park is also in need of upgrading, so additional work to renew 600 metres of water pipes from Leaton Hall on the B5067 junction to the Industrial Park is being programmed for later on this year. We will provide more information when we get closer to starting this work.

"We're extremely grateful for the patience and understanding of residents as we carried out this essential work, and hope they will bear with us when we do extra work later in the year."
