Shropshire and Mid Wales flood alerts remain but water levels falling
Scores of flood alerts remained in place across Shropshire and Wales today but water levels are beginning to subside.
Waters along most rivers including the Teme, Lugg, Rea, Onny, Corve and Severn peaked yesterday and many flood alerts were set to be removed today.
Water levels were falling along the Upper Severn in Powys with the level at 1.8 metres at Caerswswhile and Abermule, and 2.6 metres at Munlyn.
But the river peaked yesterday at 4.5 metres in Buttington and was up to six metres at Llandrinio, with several low lying roads in area being affected by flooding.
The River Teme and its tributaries downstream of Ludlow reached 2.83 metres at the Tenbury gauge, peaking at 3.2 metres yesterday afternoon.
The level at the Newnham Bridge gauge was 1.29 metres and falling but was rising at Stanford Bridge gauge, peaking at 3.6 metres, 4.2 metres at the Knightsford gauge and up to 4.5 metres in at the Bransford gauge.
