200 police on duty for Shrewsbury Town's derby with Wolves
About 200 police officers will be on duty ahead of Shrewsbury Town's derby match against Wolves on Saturday.
More than 9,000 tickets have been sold for the game at the Greenhous Meadow, which has an early kick off time of 1pm.
Officers will be involved in the policing operation to ensure the match is not affected by any disorder.
They are being drafted in from as far afield as Warwickshire, while West Midlands Police will be providing "spotters" to identify known troublemakers.
Chief Inspector Dave McWilliam, the match day commander, said: "It is important we have sufficient officers in and around the ground to support club safety staff, as well as in Shrewsbury town centre to deal with any outbreaks of disorder.
"We are hoping the day will not be marred by trouble but anyone causing problems or involved in disorder, is likely to be arrested."
The match is all-ticket and police have urged people without them not to travel.
Chief Inspector McWilliam said: "This is a special sporting occasion and real fans will want to enjoy it without disturbance.
"We also want to ensure others in Shrewsbury can go about their business without interference.
"We are working very closely in partnership with Shrewsbury Town FC who will have a large number of stewards on duty in the stadium.
"The police will not tolerate anybody arriving at the stadium or in the town with the intention of engaging in disorder. We will treat people fairly but firmly where necessary.
"Anyone arrested is likely to be charged and put before the court, facing a sentence almost certain to include a long football banning order."
Supports are being advised to arrive in good time to avoid last-minute congestion.
The match will be the first time Shrewsbury have faced Wolves in a league game since the 1984/85 season.
There were about 300 tickets still available today for the match. Tickets will be available from the Greenhous Meadow box office up until 6pm tomorrow, but there will not be any tickets for sale on Saturday.
Sean Evans, ticket office supervisor at the Greenhous Meadow, said: "Tickets continue to sell well so I would urge Shrewsbury supporters to get theirs as soon as possible or risk disappointment."
