Dozens of lambs stolen from Shropshire field
Dozens of lambs have been stolen from a field in the Shropshire countryside – costing a farmer hundreds of pounds.
The lambs were taken from a field in the Corvedale in south Shropshire, prompting calls for landowners and residents to be wary of any suspicious activity taking place in the area such as lambs being loaded into trailers.
The thefts took place some time between August 15 and 21, and West Mercia Police believe some of the raids could have taken place during daylight hours.
A spokesman for West Mercia Police said that each lamb was worth at least £80 and said it was a key time of year for farmers as lambs were reaching the age to be sent off to market.
He said: "We have had reports that several dozen lambs have been taken from a field in the Corvedale.
"If you live in a rural area, or are just driving through, please be alert for any activity involving lambs being loaded in to trailers. If you can get the registration number of the vehicles involved, phone it into us on 101 so we can check it out."
