Fat Face gears up to open new Bridgnorth shop
Surfer clothes store Fat Face will open a store in Bridgnorth tomorrow.
The new shop will be on the town's High Street and will start trading from 9am, creating a number of jobs. It will be the second Fat Face store to open in the county in little more than a year after an outlet in Ludlow was created last summer.
It has been greeted with delight by civic leaders in the town who have said it will provide a welcome boost for the town's economy. The national chain has more than 200 stores across Britain and is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
Carly Laing, spokeswoman for Fat Face, said: "We decided to open in Bridgnorth because it's a location that has been on our radar for a while.
"We hope that the store will complement the other retailers already trading, and we also hope that we will help to attract new shoppers to the town.
"We are thrilled to be opening in Bridgnorth, we can't wait to see what the local shoppers think of the store and we are really looking forward to spending some time with them and getting them kitted out with their autumn wardrobe."
Councillor Ray Gill, mayor of Bridgnorth, said the store was a welcome addition to the town's High Street. He said: "It's sad when you see towns where there are lots of empty shops but that is not the case in Bridgnorth.
"It's a good thing that a national brand such as Fat Face want to come to Bridgnorth.
"I know it is a popular brand and I do like their clothes. My daughter has had some of their items bought her as presents, and I like the socks from there so I will probably be going in.
"There are probably people who had to leave Bridgnorth to buy Fat Face clothes and now they will stay in the town which is good.
"There will also hopefully be people now travelling to Bridgnorth to go to the shop and hopefully they will spend money in the other shops too."
Staff at the store will be handing out lollies and ginger beer to shoppers to celebrate the opening.
