Tattoos at Shrewsbury studio boost Help for Heroes charity
Tattoo artist Steve Davenport puts the finishing touches to his latest creation – an image of a poppy which he hopes will raise hundreds of pounds for Help for Heroes.
Mr Davenport, who runs the Severn Ink tattoo studio in Monkmoor Road, Shrewsbury, is asking customers to get poppies inked on to their skin to raise cash for charity.
He is charging £20 for each tattoo which will all go to the military charity.
He said he came up with the idea after the murder of Drummer Lee Rigby in Woolwich last week and has had an 'unbelievable' response from people since starting the tattoos at the weekend.
"We have only done four so far but we have raised about £500 in deposits in two days. There is another £500 to come from that when people come in to get it done."
Stuart Edwards, 50, a touring sales representative for Salop Leisure, decided to have the poppy tattoo over his heart after seeing one on a customer and he had decided to follow suit.
