Tim Roberts, 25, was travelling through Loggerheads, near Market Drayton at about 7pm on Tuesday when a car smashed into the side of his vehicle and then drove off.

Mr Roberts, who lives in Loggerheads, escaped serious injury, but has been suffering with a sore neck since.

His mum, Tena Roberts, who lives near Market Drayton, has criticised the behaviour of the motorist who didn't even stop to see if her son was all right. "I can only assume that the driver of the blue Vauxhall Corsa was either not insured, over the limit or perhaps both," she said.

"You would think the hit and run driver would have had the moral decency to pause long enough to see if they had injured anyone in our light blue Ford Focus when they shot straight through the roundabout and smashed out of control into the side of us.

"Clearly not, as the Vauxhall driver sped off along the A53 in the Newcastle direction straight away." Anyone with any information is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 656 of May 14.
