Murder suspect to face no police action on death of Simon Marcus Hurley

A woman arrested on suspicion of murdering a Market Drayton man who was found with serious head injuries in a flat has been told she will face no further action.

Police say they are satisfied that no other person is believed to have been involved in the death of Simon Marcus Hurley, 47.

Mr Hurley died in the North Staffordshire University Hospital on February 27, several hours after being found with serious head injuries in a first floor flat at The Oval.

His death was treated as suspicious at the time and a woman, aged 40, was arrested. She was released from bail today and will face no further police action.

Det Insp Mark Ballamy, of West Mercia Police, said: "Following extensive inquiries into both the circumstances and the cause of Mr Hurley's death, the person arrested at the scene will face no further police action and has been released from bail.

"No other person is thought to have been involved."

An inquest will now be conducted by Shropshire coroner Mr John Ellery.
