Trading at the market in Newport was unaffected by the incident on Saturday morning.
Traders were asked to move their vehicles from the rear car park of Newport market hall as a precaution and part of the area was briefly cordoned off.
Trader Diane Agar, of Christina's Creative Cards, said: "I think it was a bit of snow damage.
"Snow had got behind one of the fascia bricks and loosened it."
The market hall, on Stafford Road, was built in 1860. The market is operated by Country Markets, based in Chesterfield.
