Arrest is made in Gnosall cock fighting case

A man has been arrested on suspicion of using cockerels in cock fighting in Gnosall, near Newport.

Police searched an unidentified property and took a 37-year-old man into custody. He was later released on police bail pending further inquiries.

A joint investigation was today underway by police and the RSPCA.

A number of cockerels were recovered and they are being looked after by the charity. Andy Robbins, of the RSPCA said: "Putting any two animals together to fight to the death is an illegal, barbaric form of entertainment."
