Shirehall bosses have started the fun early by installing a giant red nose outside the building ready for Friday.

Workmen put up the red nose to get staff and passers-by into the fundraising spirit. Staff at Shirehall hope to raise hundreds of pounds with cake sales and fancy dress planned for Friday.

A spokesman for the council said: "All Shropshire Council staff are being encouraged to 'do something funny for money' on Friday to help raise cash for Comic Relief.

"Among the activities are bake-offs, cake sales, book sales, quizzes and much more, and staff will be coming to work in fancy dress, or wearing something red, in return for a donation.

"The Column Restaurant at Shirehall will be joining the fun by serving up a special comedy-themed menu."

Among the dishes are Local Beef and Rosey Nosey Tomato Lasagne, Breaded Plaice with Yellow Lemon Noses and Bakewell Tarts.
