Oswestry teen captures judges' hearts with cat snap
[gallery] Tolli Myers's hilariously cute photograph of his cat, Hetty, waving through a fence has captured the hearts of judges in a nationwide competition being run by the RSPCA.
Tolli, 14, of Llanrhaeadr, near Oswestry, has been named as one of the finalists in the organisation's Young Photographer competition.
His portrait of the former stray is one of 31 photographs from thousands submitted to make the finals.
The mix of images also includes cheeky seagulls, a mischievous dog covered in sand and an ant snuggled into a flower petal.
Television presenter and RSPCA vice president Chris Packham, who is on the judging panel, said the winners would be announced on December 14.
He said: "It is always a joy to be involved in this competition and seeing both the young talent and enthusiasm for the animal kingdom shine through."
Tolli's mother, Heather Pennock, said her son had been involved in filming for about four years but only bought his stills camera last year.
"The cat, Hetty, was a stray. We won her over but she still lives outside," she said.
"Tolli called the photograph 'Waiting for Tea'."
The overall winner of the competition will be treated to a specialist three-day wildlife photography break courtesy of Nature's Images, learning expert tips from award-winning wildlife photographer Danny Green.
