The cafe, which employs 14 people, applied to Shropshire Council to expand after getting 100,000 customers last year.

Bosses at the cafe, just off the A49, said the seating capacity of 60 was too small to cope with the 300 daily customers.

Shirehall this week approved plans to increase the number of covers to 140, although with additional outdoor seating the number could rise to more than 200 during the summer.

Ben Crouch, the newly appointed cafe manager, said: "The development will bring more jobs for local people, generate more interest from tourists and help promote an ever-increasing array of local produce."
