Carol Smillie hosts as hundreds support Shrewsbury fashion show

The former Changing Rooms presenter was in town to host the catwalk event at Shrewsbury School on Saturday night – held to raise cash for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

A sell-out crowd of 300 people took their seats for the show, with organisers confident that more than £3,000 was raised for the charity.

Among the models on the runway was Carol's 17-year-old daughter Christie Knight, who helped to organise the show alongside her friend Cressida Adams, 17, of Nordley, near Bridgnorth.

The girls are both A-level students at Shrewsbury School.

Carol, 50, said both girls had worked hard to put on the event. She said: "It has been really good fun to organise and it's all come together at the last minute.

"This is Teenage Cancer Awareness Week so it is particularly good timing for the fashion show."

Twelve teenage models took to the runway in Alington Hall to show-off a selection of designer outfits from boutiques across the county.

They included eveningwear from Shrewsbury boutiques Wysteria Lane and Carol Grant, as well as vintage outfits from The Looking Glass in Bridgnorth.

There was also a selection of winter furs, from Shrewsbury-based Mansers Antiques.

Clothing was also provided by wedding dress designer Hayley J, as well as Monsoon and French Connection.

Men's outfits were provided by Skopes and Chequers while Shrewsbury's Fusion salon took care of hair and make-up.

Cressida said: "We have been organising this since we got back to school."
