Thousands of gallons of water flooded a busy road near Newport after a major pipe burst.
Part of the B5062 Edgmond Road was closed between 3pm and 6pm yesterday.
A Severn Trent spokeswoman said that a pipe which feeds Chetwynd Reservoir had burst.
A number of gardens and garages in Chetwynd Road in Edgmond were flooded.
The spokeswoman said the pipe valve had been turned off but residents were still able to get tap water from another source.
She added: "Our guys are trying to find the burst pipe, which we believe is in a field. Once they have located it, it should be fixed quickly."
Chetwynd Road resident Tony Booth was busy sweeping the water from his front garden at about 5pm.
He said: "It's typical, as soon as the word drought has been mentioned there's been water everywhere."
Major water works have been carried out by Severn Trent in Edgmond this year.
