The custodian of one of Shropshire's oldest landmarks has left her post after only two months in the role, it was revealed today.
Bethan Williams, 23, was appointed Ludlow Castle custodian in February, taking over from outgoing stalwart Helen Duce who retired after 16 years as key holder.
Tom Till, estate manager at Powis Castle Estates, which owns the castle, said he was disappointed Miss Williams had quit her job but is now ready to accept new applications.
He said: "It was her decision to leave so it would not be right for me to disclose the details. We are disappointed because we feel she had a lot of potential.
"We are now restarting the application process. The closing date for applicants interested in the role is May 18.
"People who are interested in applying should first look at our website to familiarise themselves with the castle."
Miss Williams, from Little Hereford, was only the second custodian in the castle's 900-year history.
