A mother of three has been banned from driving after she crashed her car into a Chinese takeaway in Ludlow while nearly three times the legal drink-drive limit.

Corrine Gibson, 30, ploughed her red Volkswagen Golf into the China Garden restaurant in New Road on January 28, Telford Magistrates Court heard.

Gibson, of Potter Close, Ludlow, admitted drink-driving yesterday. She was banned from driving for 22 months, fined £85 and ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge, as well as attend a drink-driving course.

Magistrates were told Gibson was breathalysed by police who recorded 87 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of her breath – the legal limit is 35.

Mrs Becky Jones, prosecuting, told the court Gibson was drinking lager and 'jager bomb' shots before the crash which happened just after midnight.

Gibson did not feel drunk so she drove. She lost control of the car which then crashed into the Chinese take-away damaging its front window and door.

Mr Julian Tutchener-Ellis, for Gibson, said the defendant was a hardworking mother.
