A TV advertisement for Shropshire dairy giant Muller launched as part of a £20 million promotional campaign has been voted one of the most annoying on the box.
The 90-second ad, featuring famous cartoon characters including Yogi Bear, Muttley and the Mr Men, came 18th in a poll of the commercials Britain loves to hate in 2011.
The ad for the Market Drayton-based firm also included the world's most famous talking car – Kitt from Knight Rider.
The annual poll by Marketing magazine shows that corny adverts with repetitive jingles irritate people the most – with the one for website Webuyanycar.com voted the most annoying on TV.
The cartoon characters singing Confused.com to the tune of YMCA and the Moonpig.com ditty also made the top 10. The Muller advert made its debut during The X Factor live finals in October and ran simultaneously across 50 channels.
At the time of the launch, Lee Rolston, marketing director for Muller Dairy, said it was produced to get consumers to 'sit up and take notice'.
News of the poll comes on the day the firm's proposed takeover of Robert Wiseman Dairies was given the go-ahead by the Wiseman family.
Muller, which recently won planning approval to expand its business, also revealed this month that it is set to cut the price it pays farmers for milk by 0.5 pence per litre from February 1.
The 'Wünderful Stuff' advertising campaign which proved so annoying to TV?viewers followed the introduction of new iconic blue packaging across the Muller range last summer.
Bosses wanted to make by it more interesting, less cluttered and easier for consumers to shop.
Expansion plans by the Muller company include providing a new manufacturing, storage and distribution facility on an 8.5-hectare site opposite its current dairy site in Market Drayton.
