A Mid Wales manufacturer has been placed in administration and 38 workers 'left in limbo' over their future, a trade union boss claimed today.

Howard Wright, of the Transport and General Workers Union in Newtown, said workers at Trade Manufacturing Facility Ltd (TMF), in the Mochdre Industrial Estate in the town, have been told the company has effectively ceased trading.

But he said the company, which makes wooden pallets and other items, has yet to announce who the administrators are and confirm that all the workers have been made redundant.

Mr Wright said this meant the workers were unable to sign on at the Job Centre.

He said: "The workers arrived for their day on Monday morning and a letter simply addressed to 'all staff' was handed to them. The letter said there was no work as the company had effectively ceased trading as it is owed money."

Nobody from TMF was available for comment.
