Hundreds of tickets for a talk at Wellington Literary Festival by novelist and playwright Fay Weldon have been quickly snapped up.

Organisers today said they were delighted that so many people had taken the free tickets.

Caroline Mulvihill, literary festival organiser, said they also had no tickets left for speaker Lesley Smith, who will be bringing her portrayal of Anne Boleyn to audiences on October 5 at Wrekin College.

Two hundred tickets had been on offer for each talk.

Weldon will be kicking off the festival at Wrekin College on October 1.

Tickets are still available for an appearance by poet Ian McMillan and his orchestra on October 7.

He will be bringing an evening of music, poetry and improvisation and comedy to Wrekin College.
