A judge today asked for additional psychiatric reports on a Shropshire pensioner accused of trying to kill his ex-wife.

Leonard Parton, 71, is charged with the attempted murder of Rosemary Ann Parton in Church Stretton in May.

Today Judge Robin Onions said he needed extra psychiatric reports to determine whether the pensioner was fit to attend court and fit to plead.

The case was adjourned until August 19 and Parton, of Upper Galdeford, Ludlow, is in custody.
