The proposals also show a school, playing fields and bowling green could be built in West Felton over the next 10 years.
But there is concern that so many new homes would alter its character.
More than 80 people attended an exhibition in the village organised by the developers Balfours Property Professions on behalf of the Tedsmore Estate.
The preliminary proposals which were on display showed 150 homes phased over a 10-year period with a range of community facilities on land north of Tedsmore Road.
Karine Swanson, head of planning at Balfours, said the scheme incorporated a potential site for a new primary school.
She said: "The current school is significantly over capacity and unable to cope with those wishing to attend."
Additional community facilities illustrated included a village green, playground, junior sports field, bowling green and associated pavilion.
"The meeting was an opportunity for local people to tell us how the scheme could be improved," she said.
However, one villager, who did not want to be named, said she and many others were concerned about the proposed number of homes.
Rory Galliers, of Balfours, said: "Those attending the consultation received a questionnaire so that, as agents for the Tedsmore Estate, we can understand what is important to residents and can take account of what they tell us in formulating the best possible design solution for this site."
