Seven man brawl in Church Stretton town park

Five men have been arrested after a seven-man brawl in broad daylight in a south Shropshire park, police revealed today.

A 22-year-old suffered a broken ankle when two groups of young men were involved in the fight near the bowling club in Church Stretton town park.

The fight broke out between 6pm and 8pm on Saturday near the bowling pavilion in Sandford Avenue.

Officers arrested five men on suspicion of causing violent disorder and took them into custody at Shrewsbury police station. They have all since been granted conditional bail while police continue to make inquiries.

Detective constable Will Quan, the investigating officer, today urged any witnesses to come forward with information after the "serious" fight.
