A man has died after his van hit a tree in Mid Wales.
The driver was cut out of his vehicle by fire crews following the incident on the A489 at Penstrowed, between Newtown and Caersws, just after 9am yesterday.
Despite efforts from paramedics, the motorist died at the scene.

He said: "The road was closed for more than four hours and traffic diverted as emergency services dealt with the incident and the vehicle was recovered."
The road remained closed as scene of accident officers worked on the stretch of road between Coleg Powys and the level crossing, near Caersws. Motorists were diverted via Aberhafesp.
