A Chirk farmer man has denied a series of cattle identification offences brought by Wrexham County Borough Council.

John Pierce, of Ley Farm, yesterday told Wrexham Magistrates Court at Mold that he was not the keeper or the owner of any of the animals and said that all businesses at the farm - the airport, the market and the farm - were the responsibility of a limited company - North Western Air Engineering Ltd.

But the prosecution allege that he is the owner and passport holder of the animals.

He denied charges including failing to report bovine deaths, failing to record the movement of animals, failing to keep an up to date register, and using a tag on one animal when the same number had previously been used on another.

The case was adjourned for a three-day trial in June.
