Assault on Telford taxi driver

A taxi driver was assaulted as he was parked outside a hotel in Telford.

The 35-year-old man stopped police to report the attack outside The Whitehouse Hotel, in Wellington, at 1.54am on Saturday.

A 17-year-old was arres-ted on suspicion of assault at the scene. She has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Pete Simmonds, spokesman for Telford police, said the taxi driver escaped serious injury and appealed for witnesses to contact police.
