One of the sparrows flying around the shopfloor of a Shropshire supermarket has been captured.
Nets were used to snare the bird, which has been in the Sainsbury's store in Telford for about three weeks. Efforts are now being made to capture its pal, which is still in the Forge Retail Park branch.
Store manager Ian Sutton said the one bird had been captured early on yesterday morning while the store was closed.
Some bakery products, including loose bread rolls and Danish pastries, have had to be cleared from the shelves because they were attracting the birds.
Mr Sutton said it had probably cost the firm lost sales amounting to hundreds of pounds over the last three weeks.
Mr Sutton said: "Traps were set for two weeks and now that has escalated to nets to try and catch them as humanely as possible."
The store has been working closely with the environmental health department at Telford & Wrekin Council and had to apply for a licence to capture the birds.
