Up to 1,000 spectators are expected at Ludlow Town's SBS Stadium this weekend for a charity football match in memory of teenager James Fox.

Sunday's match will see a host of James's friends take to the pitch in his honour.

James, 18, a former Ludlow College and Wigmore High School student from Orleton, near Ludlow, died in a car accident on the A49 at Hope-under-Dinmore, near Leominster, on September 19.

A team from Ludlow College will take on James's old team, Ludlow Colts Reserves. Hereford United manager Jamie Pitman will attend the match set up by James's friends who want to raise £1,000 for memorial benches in Orleton.

Mark Siveter, commercial manager at Ludlow Town Football Club, praised the community for its support.

He said: "The response has been absolutely unbelievable.

"We are expecting between 600 and 1,000 people to turn up."

He added: "This really proves what a popular lad James was."

Admission is by donation. Anyone wishing to attend is advised to turn up at about 2.30pm ahead of a 3pm kick- off.

A number of businesses in Ludlow town centre have donated prizes for the raffle being held on the day, and admission to the ground is by donation.
