A day of fun at a Shropshire supermarket is in the offing today as plans to send a terminally ill girl on the trip of lifetime took a step nearer reality.

Asda in Donnington Wood, Telford, was playing host to the fun day to drum up cash for the Princess Faith's Dolphin Dream Fund.

The fund was set up to raise cash to send four-year-old Faith Warren-Jones and her parents, Caroline and Dean, to Florida so the youngster can receive dolphin therapy and then have the trip of a lifetime to Disney World.

Faith, from Marsh Green, near Wellington, suffers with the very rare Mabry Syndrome, a genetic condition which has left her unable to do anything unaided and she is unable to speak.

The condition also greatly reduces Faith's life expectancy. She will not survive into adulthood.

Faith's eight-year-old brother also suffered with the condition and tragically he lost his fight against its effects and died at Hope House Children's Hospital in May this year.

Today's fundraiser at Asda is the latest in a string of events which have helped swell the coffers of the cause and brought the dream trip ever closer for Faith.

Fundraiser Rachel Edwards said: "We need to raise £20,000 for the trip and so far we have £8,200.

"A ladies' night held at Central Square nightclub in Newport last month raised £1,000 and a clairvoyant evening last Tuesday at the Red Lion in Wellington raised a further £1,192.

People have been absolutely amazing."

The next big fundraiser on the calendar is a ball to be held at Ford Hall at Lilleshall National Sport Centre on October 30 from 7pm.

Tickets cost £45 and are available from Mrs Edwards on 07701 039636.
