Foodies have dug out their umbrellas and wellies after a damp start to Ludlow's prestigious food festival today.

Traders and visitors faced a wet start as the festival kicked off when the gates opened at 10am to thousands of food lovers.

They will enjoy demonstrations, tastings and workshops involving more than 140 independent food and drink producers and suppliers promoting real food, ale, cider, perry, wine and more from the Marches.

Among the attractions will be the famous sausage and ale trail along with a raft of talks and displays from Michelin-star chefs.

A festival launch evening was held yesterday in support of this year's mayor's charity Ludlow Carers Group.
