Stephen O'Neill, 24, of Clifford Road, Market Drayton, died after his bike was in collision with a tractor towing a trailer outside Broughton Village Hall on the B5026 road between Eccleshall and Loggerheads on Thursday. He was driving his Triumph motorbike towards Eccleshall.

The tractor was being driven towards Charnes by a man in his 50s from the Eccleshall area.

Mr O'Neill's partner of eight years, Tracey Lockley, and his family said in a statement: "We are all stunned by what has happened and struggling to accept that Stephen is gone. His death has hit all of us very hard.

"We would like to thank all those people who have offered support and condolences.

"Stephen, Steve or Big Ste as he was known, went out of his way to enjoy life, never missing an opportunity to get the most out of any situation.

"He was a fun-seeking, caring and loving person. Stephen made friends with ease and always had a smile or witty remark to brighten up your day.

"He enjoyed riding his motorbike, flying his radio-controlled helicopter with friends, going away in the caravan with Tracey and friends, flying his power kite, playing rugby and paintballing.

"He was always looking for new hobbies or a new way to enjoy himself.

"As well as this he was the guy you called for a favour or when something broke. Be it car, bike, kitchen or bathroom he would make it work or be there to lend a hand.

"Stephen will be greatly missed by all that knew him. We love you Steve."

A man held on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been bailed until the end of next month.

Anyone with information on the collision should call Sergeant Jez Heath or Constable Andy Barrow on 0300 123 4455.
