A woman has died after her car plunged down a steep embankment at a Shropshire beauty spot.

Paramedics were called to the Burway on the Long Mynd near Church Stretton just before 11.30am today.

An ambulance crew, a rapid response unit with an incident support officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance attended.

When they arrived, they found the woman, who police believe was the driver, out of the car with the fire service in attendance and resuscitation attempts being made.

Chris Kowalik, of West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "The ambulance crew took over resuscitation attempts at the scene. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the crews, nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene."
