Plans were today unveiled for an outdoor activity centre at a pub in south Shropshire, creating up to nine jobs.

The plan is to convert a listed barn, create a reception area and site several wooden "wigwams" in surrounding woodland to provide all-year round outdoor accommodation at the Station Inn, Marshbrook, near Church Stretton.

The centre would be mainly focused on providing facilities for mountain biking, but would also cater for walkers, gliders and tourists.

Richard Davies, who has submitted the plans, hopes to work closely with local schools and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme.

He said: "The aim is to have first class facilities and achieve the highest standard of customer care to encourage growth and sustain long-term tourism in the Church Stretton hills and surrounding areas."

The listed barn on the site will be restored and extended to house a shower block and drying areas.
