Australia tragedy: No others involved

Police in Australia today confirmed they are not looking for anyone else in connection with a crash in which a 19-year-old Shropshire man died.

Joshua Bowen, of Bronington, Whitchurch, died in hospital this week days after the car he was in crashed into trees in Brisbane, Queensland.

His friend Richard Tennant, also 19, from Wrexham, died at the scene of the crash on Friday.

The friends were both former students of the Maelor School in Penley.

Mr Tennant, the driver, worked as a trainee chef at the Cross Foxes pub, Erbistock. A 26-year-old man who was also injured was in a stable condition at the Royal Brisbane Hospital today.

A spokeswoman for the Queensland Police Service said today a detailed report was being prepared for the Queensland coroner, who would decide whether an inquest would be held.

She said: "It was a single vehicle crash, there was no other car involved.

"Police investigations are continuing to show the cause of the crash.

"A detailed report will be prepared for the Queensland coroner. He will decide whether or not there will be an inquest."

She said it would be a "considerable period of time" before investigations are finalised and officers come up with their conclusions about the cause of the crash.

A spokeswoman for the Foreign Office said the families were being given consular assistance.
