Hitler's artwork to be sold off
Rare examples of Adolf Hitler's early paintings were due to go under the hammer in Shropshire today.
The Nazi leader's watercolours were expected to attract great interest and could fetch thousands of pounds.
The 13 works, left forgotten in a collector's garage until now, even include a self-portrait by the infamous dictator.
The sale, which was also due to feature Elvis's prayer book and Marilyn Monroe's blouse, was being held by Mullocks Auctioneers at Ludlow Racecourse from 1pm. Richard Westwood-Brookes, for Mullocks Auctioneers, said it was difficult to predict how much the paintings would fetch.
He said: "Adolf Hitler pieces have in the past made hundreds of thousands of pounds but I'm not making any rash estimates on this.
"As works of art, they are hardly Picasso. You can take a view of Adolf Hitler and his prowess as an artist but I don't think anybody would agree he was in the first rank, by any means."
