Known locally as the old mill, the building on Cheshire Street, Market Drayton, was built in 1899 for Wrights Brewery Company.

Now the historic 4,600 sq ft site, which has planning permission for conversion into six apartments, is being marketed by Cooper Green estate agents.

The building is also listed as a classified advert on online site eBay, although Cooper Green bosses say they are not responsible for uploading the building's details on to the web.

Mystery now surrounds how the property listing came to be placed on eBay on Sunday.

Val Taylor, town councillor, said she was surprised to see the old mill for sale on the site, and wondered if it was put up as an April fool joke.

"It has not been a mill since the 1960s," she said.

"I'd like to see it made into something else instead of being left empty. I wish them luck with the bidding.

"I'm surprised about it being on eBay but a lot of the time that's a good gimmick and a good way to sell it.

"It is derelict now and it seems a shame to let it fall into disrepair.

"I'm pleased it's on the market and the planning permission is with it so hopefully a new buyer will come in, convert the building into flats and save the mill that's been there for years."
