On Thursday evening my wife and some friends from her work visited Wetherspoons at Telford Town Centre for a Christmas drink.

On entering the building my wife slipped on a piece of ice, and as she fell, she hit her head, resulting in a large gash to her cheek and her spectacles being broken.

My wife was bleeding and her friend went into Wetherspoons and asked for a first aid box. The staff member said:"Sorry we cannot give out first aid boxes." The friend then asked if a first aider was available to assist my wife. The staff member replied "yes", but nobody responded.

Luckily a nurse saw what happened and assisted my wife but no response came from any staff member at Wetherspoons.

On Friday morning I telephoned Wetherspoons's head office to make a formal complaint. I was told that they would pass the message on to their area manager, but they stated there is nothing else they could do.

Wetherspoons's head office went on to say they are "not obliged" to offer first aid. When making the complaint I was never asked for my name or contact details. Wetherspoons offered no support or compassion towards my wife.

My wife was left with a badly cut face, a broken pair of glasses and had not had a drink.

A big thank you to the nurse but shame on you Wetherspoons.
