A pint, please - but take some off the top

Anybody wanting a haircut in a village near Oswestry should just call in at their local pub.

For Becky Kennerley, of Oswestry, has set up her own barber's shop in a caravan at the back of her mum's pub in Ruyton-XI-Towns.

Now visitors to the Top House Inn can order a quick trim along with their pint. The caravan has been fully renovated with new flooring and storage space to become the Top House Barbers.

It comes complete with a barber chair, mirror and electric supply for the clippers.

Miss Kennerley said: "I do ladies' trims here as well, but no colouring or perms. It's mainly gents and children.

"It's something different. There isn't anything like this around in a caravan at the back of a pub. The children like it as well.

"Somebody thought it was a joke when I first opened. People had been talking about it and thought it was a joke so they came to look for themselves and couldn't believe it."

She said the caravan and was her landlady mum Elfy Bell's idea. Miss Kennerley said: "She had this caravan standing here for a couple of years and said 'why don't you turn it into a barber's shop?'."

The shop is also proving a big hit with villagers looking to beat the credit crunch.

"It's taken off really well and I'm getting new people in every day," she said.

"Local people think it's brilliant. They don't want to traipse into town and don't want to fork out for parking and fuel with the credit crunch, so it's convenient."
