From Telford to the EastEnd

A new EastEnders character from Telford last night confirmed that the location of Shropshire remains one of Britain's best kept secrets when she described her home town as being somewhere "between Wales and Birmingham".Pretty blonde new girl Danielle Jones arrived in Walford looking for a job in last night's instalment of the BBC soap.

But the 19-year-old character hardly put the county on the map when she tried to explain where she was from to nonplussed stallholder Stacey. "Don't worry, you are not missing much - it's okay, but life doesn't begin and end in Shropshire", Danielle told her new friend.

The character, who is played by actress Lauren Crace, made her debut in Albert Square with dreams of building a new life for herself in London.

Insiders say her kindness will rub off on others in the Square and she will land herself a job on the stall.

Actress Lauren Crace joins the cast of EastEnders straight from the world renowned drama school, RADA. She has previously appeared in a string of stage performances.

According to a report posted on the BBC website, Lauren said she was excited by potential plot developments for her character.

She said: "I'm thrilled to be joining the cast of EastEnders, it's a great first role and I can't wait to see what is in store for Danielle."
