Brisk sale of tickets for show

Advance ticket sales for this weekend's West Mid Show are more than double last year's figure with three days to go before the annual rural event kicks off, organisers said today.National ticketing agency See Tickets has released the figures for its advance ticket sales, as preparations continue for the show which will take place at the West Mid Showground in Shrewsbury on Saturday and Sunday.

Organisers said other advanced ticketing outlets such as the show's own ticketing department and the Music Hall Tourist Information Centre have also been reporting brisk business.

Show chairman David Tudor said: "I am very pleased with preparations, ticket sales and all arrangements for this year's show.

"We are well ahead of schedule in terms of preparation on the ground. The Met Office forecast for the rest of the week looks ideal and for the show at the weekend too."

This year's show will feature a full range of livestock and equine classes with horses, sheep, goats, cattle and pigs. Attractions include the British national tug of war championships, and performances by the Red Devils of the Parachute Regiment and Hollywood stunt team The Devil's Horsemen.

Commercial director Gary Tudor urged people to buy advance tickets, adding: "We have held prices for tickets this year at 2007 prices and advanced tickets represent very good value for money compared to many county shows."
