Youngsters in Albrighton look set to be given somewhere permanent to practise their skateboarding skills after plans to build a park in the town were recommended for approval.

The proposals to build the skatepark at Albrighton Primary School, in Newhouse Lane, have been recommended for approval by Shropshire County Council's planning officers.

All that remains is for the blueprints to be given the green light by the council's planning committee on June 10.

The decision is being made by the county council rather than Bridgnorth District Council because the skatepark is on school land.

Work could begin as early as the summer holidays and would be completed by August 2009.

The skatepark would be open between 5pm and 8pm on weekdays and between 1pm and 7pm on weekends, bank holidays and during school holidays.
